Civil War Memory moved… Other Blogs REMOVED

I hate to do it, but I removed the “Civil War Memory” blog from my list and not because I have any intellectual issue (or anything) with the “Civil War Memory” blog, as a matter a fact it has been a daily stop for several years and will continue to be so! However, I do so as it has removed my blog from its front page. I have my blogroll on the main page in support of my fellow bloggers and they support me in kind. Sorry, but I cannot continue to have links on my main page and then lose web surfers to those sites that do not return the favor in kind. I have also removed several other blogs that did not return the link on their home page. I did not come to this decision easily, but fair is fair. I do not have a secondary blog roll list page.

UPDATE: I moved Civil War Memory to my non-monitored “Resources” list on the bottom right.  Down there no one will ever see it, which is in line with the placement of blogs on that site.

    Chris,

You do know that I do have a link to your blog on my site? I did relegate all of my links to a page for aesthetic reasons, which I explained some time ago. It seems strange that you would delete my link for such a reason, but it is your site. Please rest assured that I have no plans to delete your site.

Sorry for my delayed response Kevin, two papers due today. Nothing calculated about this move on my part and nothing “strange” about it. Yes, I know you have a link, as I said, it is on a secondary page (not on the home page “.com”). Your blog roll is a list of links in a paragraph like that is worthless. I could care less if my site was on that page. I decided that I want to keep links with other sites that have their links on their main, home page, like me. Nothing personal. I removed lots of links to sites that did not return the link and did not do so in a similar fashion. I get a lot of visitors and willingly share those with others via my homepage no matter how “cosmetic” or “aesthetic” it does not look on my site. I do so in the spirit of the blog community. Cheers!

After some consideration I am adding CW Memory to my “Resources” as in that section I do not check on return links. That seems fair.

I decided to remove your link. This seems so petty to me that it borders on the bizarre. Is the problem that my link doesn’t influence your technorati rankings or other blog measurement?

  5. Chris says:

Kevin, WHATEVER, you are disingenuous. It’s not aesthetic reasons as you claimed above, but as you said on your blog, you don’t want to be a part of the blogging community, as you wrote: “Bloggers should want their readers to stick around for a bit rather than click an attractive outgoing link.”

So if this is “bizarre” to you, fine. I don’t want your link on my homepage when you don’t want mine on yours as you will lose visitors, potentially, as you wrote. That was my point.

I don’t care. Where that blog roll is located on your site is an insult.

Also, your site is hard to navigate. To find the search option is ridiculous. Just FYI.

    Ciao.
